Help Masha and Luka Overcome Medical Challenges

Hi all, I’m Mikayla and I am fundraising on behalf of my sister and brother-in-law. Within the last week, they’ve been hit with over $12,000 in vet bills for their dogs Masha and Luka.

Luka was diagnosed with diabetes, the diagnostics and treatment costing around $2,500. Since starting daily insulin and a diabetic-friendly diet, Luka is back to his normal happy self with significantly improved glucose levels.

Masha became very ill very fast, requiring repeat visits to the vet, two-day stay in the ER, and what will so far be a 2-day stay at an animal hospital. She wasn’t eating, was hemorrhaging blood, became anemic, and developed a heart murmur. Diagnoses like lepto, diabetes, and sepsis were suspected and thankfully ruled out. Many blood tests, xrays, MRI, and IV fluids and medications later, her symptoms were determined to be a nasty combination of a severe UTI and GI distress. She is responding to treatment and improving, and we anticipate she will be able to come home tomorrow. Her treatment has cost $10,000.

Masha and Luka are our family’s first dogs - we love and care for them like any other family member, and want to do anything we can to keep them healthy and happy. Unfortunately, this couldn’t have come at a worse time - my sister works in mental health, and the clinic she worked at unexpectedly closed with very short notice. With that said, any support you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
