Help Margaret's Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Margaret - wife, mother of 2 by birth, & “mother” of several others by relationship - has been recently diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer (invasive ductal carcinoma) and possibly lung cancer. Despite the cancer, she is a very strong and healthy woman who receives strength through her purpose in life – helping the world in the ways she can and loving her family. Please consider helping her with her fight. Details below.

Our mom, Margaret, is an exceptionally strong woman, in the best ways. She’s always motivated to become healthier than she was the year before. This has inspired us, her kids, and others, to learn to say “no” to the status quo.

But… early July this ill-fated year, she noticed a slightly painful lump in her breast. Thankfully, she got it looked at, because it was breast cancer – we were told stage 2 growing moderately fast.

“Ok,” she says. “Let’s learn everything there is about this, get multiple opinions, and see how I can minimize the damaging effects of cancer treatment.” She dug deep into researching allopathic methods of treatment as well as alternative cancer solutions that would work alongside the typical cures she would pursue. As usual, she’s driven to get better and ready to question the experts – she is someone who has the discipline to change her entire lifestyle in order to make the greatest recovery possible; she’s done it before, she can do it again.

But… mid-August, PET scan results revealed more cancer growth in her lung and sacrum bone, which changed everything.

What does this mean…? She’s now jumped to stage 4. Our dear mom, always so strong and healthy, at this stage?? Not only this, if the biopsy results reveal that the spot in her lungs is due to the breast cancer spreading, that means (according to her allopathic doctor), that she will be on palliative care for the rest of her life, “maybe 5 years,” says the doctor. It’s no use treating a cancer which has gone so far.
If, though, the spot in the lung is its own lung cancer, it may be able to be treated with radiation. The breast cancer that spread to the sacrum bone may also be able to be treated with radiation given favorable conditions. We’re waiting to learn about that.

This all means a lot of doctors, harsh treatments – and with that – temporary and possibly life-long side effects. But our mom is not one to give up on her quality of life. She is motivated to live, and live with purpose and joy. So, no matter what the results of the biopsies, she will research as well as attempt to receive what alternative recommendations her explorations uncover are true and helpful for her in order to help shrink the cancer and minimize side effects. Western medicine provides limited solutions to recovery, yet we will keep searching and praying, remaining free from despondency.

Unfortunately, insurance only covers so much of in-network treatments and no alternative treatments. Even if we weren’t exploring these alternative treatments, financial support would be sought after. It’s a pity it is so difficult to get what’s needed for cancer therapies that don’t damage or prevent damage to the rest of the body. As one doctor said, cancer is a political disease, and drug companies make billions from it, giving them the means to make it harder to find and properly test enough good, unharmful solutions.

Please support our dear mom financially and with whatever you can afford. Prayers are also VERY much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jonathan & Libbie (son & daughter)
