Lisa Brunson is continuing a very difficult battle with Colon Cancer. For those of you who might not know her, Lisa is an incredible mother, wife and daughter who always finds a way to brighten the lives of those around her. She has proved herself to be an amazingly positive, selfless fighter in the face of adversity. The Brunson family, including her husband Chris, her children Kaitlyn and Cody and step children Nadiya and William need your help. After fighting a battle with cancer for 2 years now this family needs our financial support. Whatever you can give will help pay towards multiple massive surgeries and continuing chemotherapy in order to give Lisa the fighting chance she deserves. This is not something that any family should go against alone, together we can help keep this remarkable family together and let Lisa’s light continue to shine through all our lives.
Lisa’s Story:
At the beginning of 2019 Lisa began suffering from a Eustachian tube dysfunction. Long lasting issues such as severe inner ear pain and loss of hearing made it so she was limited in her abilities at work. Unable to continue her career, Lisa and Chris, at this point recently engaged, took a new path instead with opening Pure Imagination Cafe. Later that year on the very day they were to be married, Lisa was brought to the hospital with abdominal pain. Doctors discovered an obstruction from a mass in her colon. The obstruction was opened up and it was confirmed to be colon cancer. A few weeks after removal surgery Lisa and Chris decided to have a backyard wedding with close friends and family.
After the surgery followed six months of chemotherapy. She developed some neuropathy, which is still persistent today but not what she saw as severely life impacting. In fact throughout the treatment no matter the side effects Lisa couldn’t have been more positive about her condition. She saw this as a moment of struggle that could and would be overcome, in the end only making her an even stronger person. Lisa was able to finish her chemo and make it to complete remission because of this inner strength and the love of all those around her.
Unfortunately this was not the end of her struggle. In mid 2020 the Brunson's not only had struggles with their new Cafe because of covid pandemic, but scans showed that Lisa’s cancer had returned. This time it has spread to her abdomen (peritoneal metastasis) which is a far graver prognosis. Looking into procedures for her current condition they discovered a treatment known as HIPEC (Hot chemotherapy in the abdomen after massive surgery to remove all other abdominal masses). However, in December scans showed significant growth of two tumors near her ovaries. Further scans not long after showed fluid, and tremendous growth of these new tumors. Now the surgeon for the HIPEC treatment would first like to remove the two large tumors, then to have Lisa go back on chemotherapy for several months, before taking more scans to see if the surgery could be a possibility. This is her most recent obstacle. Lisa has been sick for 2 years now, her faith in the strength she has and the work she has done has been shaken. It's time for us to help carry some of that weight for her and show her what she means to all of us.
