Help Linda McBain Through Her Cancer Battle

July 2024, our mother Linda McBain was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. July is also the month we lost our sister, our mom's youngest child Jamie, 4 years ago. July is tough. Mom went into the hospital thinking she had pneumonia and left with her whole world turned upside down. It's been devastating to witness all the ups and downs she has endured.

She had a couple of rounds of chemo and radiation in the beginning of October. Her oncologist told her they would treat with the intent to cure. There was hope! (Prior to seeing the oncologist, the hospital doctor had told her it was terminal.) The treatments seemed to help! She was gaining her weight back, eating, and breathing better!

October 19th, after celebrating her birthday, she collapsed from a stroke. By the grace of God and our family and friends that acted quickly, she was rushed by ambulance to the hospital in time to have the clot removed from her brain. She survived! She was really weak and ended up needing blood transfusions, heart medications, and IV nutrition. Mom survived that and got strong enough to escape transitional care rehab earlier than she should have. That's our mom though. Tough as nails. Always has been. I have always admired that about her.

Since July, she has been in and out of 3 different hospitals. Her oncologist moved to a different position and she has since not been able to meet with the new oncologist due to being in the hospital again recently with an infection. So, we currently are not sure where she stands with treatment. Chemo and the stroke really put her body through a lot. She's starting to feel weaker and more and more tired. Sadly, she has to worry about finances and how she is going to make ends meet. Something nobody should have to worry and stress about when you're going through cancer.

Hell, my name is Chella and I am child number 3 of 4. I am starting this Gofund me on behalf of my family in hopes to raise money to care for our mother. I know she has so many people who love and care for her and want to help. Medical bills are piling up and we are in need to possibly hire someone to care for her, so that she can be safe, living in her home.
