On December 3rd, at a checkup, we found out that our three-year-old daughter, Kinsley, has a very loud heart murmur. She was then sent to have an echocardiogram done the very next day. On December 5th, I received a call from the office stating Kinsley has a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot (essentially a hole in the bottom two chambers of her heart, along with pulmonary stenosis and VSD). She was born with this heart defect, and it was overlooked until she was seen at a new doctor’s office. Today, on December 10th, she saw a cardiologist and had another echocardiogram done. Her heart needs to be surgically repaired. It has been struggling the last three years, and no one knew. She has had no symptoms and has been acting like the average child does. Surgery has been scheduled for January 16th. Our two-year-old son, Aiden, also has a heart defect; however, we knew about his while I was pregnant with him. He has had two open heart surgeries and will have his third and final surgery in August. So, Kinsley and Aiden’s surgeries will be roughly 6-7 months apart from each other. We don’t like to ask for help, but her surgery is right after the holidays. Along with them estimating her hospital stay to be at minimum a 7-day stay. She will have a couple more appointments before surgery, and then a handful of appointments immediately after discharge, with all of Aiden’s to follow. Any donation would help us be able to have time off of work to be able to stay by her side the entire time she’s in the hospital, along with the costs of gas, meals while staying with her, etc.
We understand that times are tough for everyone these days. So even a prayer would mean the world to us! We know our little girl is strong and so resilient. She will definitely make it through this and will continue to be the sweet and happy little girl that she is.
