Help Kia Pay For Her Breast Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Kia Silliman. This isn’t easy for me to share so I want to start by saying thank you for taking the time to listen to my story. For those of you that don’t know, since October 2023, I have been battling one of the scariest diseases any woman can face, Breast Cancer. As a dancer, my body is my everything. It is my craft. It is my business. It is my purpose. Never would I have thought that at 31, my healthy, able body would have to fight something like this; I’m sure you can imagine the level of anxiety and stress I’ve been feeling coupled with the physical battle I’m enduring.

As an artist and performer, this career path can be a turbulent one and unfortunately, in many cases, unreliable. This is one of those cases. As a result of not being able to work for the past 2 months and trying to secure insurance coverage, I have accrued an insurmountable amount of debt. My medical bills are compounding along with my other expenses including my rent, my car expenses (gas, tolls, maintenance) that allow me to get to and from my appointments, medicine, and oh yeah... FOOD! I have exhausted my savings, submitted grant applications, even worked right up until the last possible day before my treatment began so I could to try and pay these bills but I still have many looming over me. After a lot of thought, I am finally opening myself up to share my story with all of you. By no means is this an easy thing for me to share or to ask for anyone's assistance. I understand everyone has their own life situations going on, but I would appreciate any and all support you could possibly bestow upon me at this time. Life is hard enough, fighting to live makes it is that much harder.

Any contribution you make will help in making a difference in my treatment and recovery. I appreciate your graciousness, love, and kindness.

Kia's Bio:

Kia Silliman is a New York native, raised in Montclair, NJ. Before pursuing dance, Kia trained in gymnastics from the age of 3 and competed at a national level between the ages 7 to 16. Kia's passion for dance was always demonstrated in her floor routines and when she pursued dance at the age of 14, she honed her abilities to combine strength, flexibility, and grace through movement. Her passion for dance led her to joining Montclair High School’s Dance Company then continuing her education and passion in college.

Kia graduated with honors from the University of the Arts with a BFA in Dance Performance in 2014. Upon graduation, Kia moved to Las Vegas to perform as a Showgirl in Donn Arden’s ‘Jubilee!’ and later in an original Cirque du Soleil production, “One Night for One Drop: AMANZI”. After nearly 2 years of living and working in Vegas, Kia took her passions to Los Angeles, where she was featured in commercials for Tiffany & Co and music videos including Fifth’s Harmony’s “He Like That” (2017). Kia’s professional journey evolved into not only performing but choreographing her own work and that of other professional dancers and artists. In 2018, Kia returned to NYC and amassed more notable success as a dancer with Kim Petras (2021) and Blackpink (2022) at the MTV VMA’s and in music videos for stars including for Wyclef Jean (2018), Lil’ Kim (2019), and Megan Thee Stallion (2021).

Most recently, you may have spotted Kia in commercial and television work in an episode of The Crowded Room (2021) and the promo for the 2023 season of American Horror Story, “Delicate”. In 2023, Kia recently concluded her fourth season as a dancer for the Brooklyn Nets (Brooklynettes) at Barclays Center in front of an astounding 18,000 fans each night. Kia is signed as a model with Bella Agency in NYC and continues her dreams of bicoastal working between NYC and LA.
