Dear friends,

I’m asking for your support this holiday season for my friend who is facing a difficult financial situation. Khatira is an Afghan refugee who served alongside the US military, and she is resettled here with her two children. She is truly amazing. She is doing her best to make it as a single mom- but rent, utilities, school supplies for her kids, and food among other necessities is rough as it is, let alone when you started over in a new country with nothing.

Unfortunately, she was involved in a car accident over the weekend and will need to pay a pretty high deductible to get the car fixed. Right now, she will not be able to afford this and make ends meet for her other living expenses.

Of all the things she could complain about or ask for-and believe me, there is a lot- this was the first. She is independent, hardworking, and proud, but right now she needs a little help to avoid further financial hardship.

I am asking for any assistance you can offer- really, no amount is too small and will go directly towards helping her pay for this unforeseen cost and her essential bills.
