My name is Kevin and like many, we were hit hard by the recent flooding. Our house is a one-story house and luckily the water never made it to the first floor, but our basement was an unofficial second story. It was a bar and pool lounge. It was a crafting haven and a toy room. It was a movie theater and retro gaming zone. All of it is gone.

I don’t care about any of that, we just want to get it to the point where we can return home. Mold is prevalent and being taken care of, the water pump, hot water heater, and furnace will all need to be replaced. The finishing of the basement will all need to be torn off, every outlet will need to be replaced, and every bit of plumbing will need to be reattached. I don’t like asking for help and I know lots of people were hit hard and some had it worse.

I’ve worried myself sick, literally, and all the while Becky has been keeping strong and taking care of the toddlers and getting ready to return to work.

So I’m tucking my ego in my pocket and asking for help. Even if I raise nothing, at least I know I’ve exhausted every possibility.
