For the past six years, my girlfriend Kayla has been battling a mysterious and debilitating stomach issue. It all began when she turned 25, and since then, her life has been turned upside down. Kayla can only eat chicken and rice—anything else triggers a severe flare-up that often lands her in the hospital. Despite seeing three different GI doctors, she still has no answers, and her condition has left her bed bound and unable to work.

With her condition, Kayla’s weight has dropped dramatically—from 140 pounds to barely being able to stay above 100 pounds. The next step in her journey is to get tested for endometriosis, a condition that runs in her family and could finally provide some answers. Unfortunately, the testing and potential treatments are extremely expensive, and Kayla has been denied disability and insurance because she cannot work. She spends every day feeling nauseous, lightheaded, and in pain, missing out on the best years of her life.
