Donation protected
Exciting news! We've reached the target set. This will help to support Katrina through her current treatment plan. 285 donations were made to this Go Fund Me fundraiser in a total of 3 days. Katrina and her family are overwhelmed by your amazing support and kindness that has been expressed during this very tough time. Thank you again, Tricia and Nikki xx

The effervescent Katrina Reed, wife & mother of 3, is fighting a cancer battle. The treatment required is not covered by the PBS (it is only covered for breast cancer) with each treatment estimated to cost $6114, not including GST. The Reed family have always supported those around and so we ask if you’re able to, please support them now. Any financial support is greatly appreciated.

October 2022
Katrina was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive small cell neuroendocrine tumour in her cervix, which moved to her lymph nodes. This tumour grew to 10cm before Katrina began having symptoms - all symptoms being passed off as menopause.
Scans and biopsy followed and a rare tumour was discovered. Katrina began a three day a week course of chemotherapy every three weeks for 6 cycles in Toowoomba. On the same day as her second round of chemotherapy, she began 25 sessions of Radiation, while maintaining her Administration Coordinator role at Mort & Co’s Grassdale Feedlot.

January 2023
Katrina underwent intensive internal Brachytherapy at the RBWH in Brisbane. During this treatment, Katrina had a large number of days being anaemic & received over 25 transfusions of blood & platelets.

April 2023
Came with a blessing and much celebration - all signs of cancer were gone……

June 2023
Katrina woke with a migraine and the following night she started seeing strange hallucinations. After more hallucinations at work in the coming days, she attended the local Dalby Hospital & was referred to Toowoomba for a CT scan. Her fears were realized when she was diagnosed with a golf ball sized tumour at the rear RHS of her brain. Katrina was admitted to Mater Hospital that night & underwent a craniotomy. Scans also showed a 7mm lesion on her lung. The aggressiveness of the tumours meant Katrina underwent her first round of chemotherapy while still in the hospital.
Katrina returned to work shortly after with her usual positive attitude, “I’m a realist - this could go on for years. I want to set an example for my family & workmates about resilience & strength”.

August 2023
At her third cycle of chemotherapy, the scans showed the cancer had returned to the site of the previous tumour in her brain & that the tumour in her lung had grown 2mm. She was booked in for 5 days of strong radiation to the brain at Greenslopes Hospital the following Monday.
Her Oncologist Dr Coward advised Trastuzumab Emtansine (Kadcyla) chemotherapy was the course of action to fight the current lung cancer and to inhibit tumour growth.

The cost is $6114 per treatment + GST. Katrina will require an estimated 4-6 treatments, possibly more and not including travel, accommodation etc.

Katrina, Scott and family continue to maintain a positive outlook, they are unwavering in their determination to beat this disease, but any & all help is appreciated.
