Help Katelyn Overcome Medical Hardships

Hello! I am organizing this Go Fund Me on behalf of my long time friend, Katelyn Garrison - who has been experiencing hardship after hardship with her health over the last 3 years. These hardships have left her in a very vulnerable position and she now needs our help.

Long story short, Katelyn has been suffering from so much pain, new and worsening bleeding complications, so many medical interventions, trips to clinics, hospitals, emergency rooms, hospitalizations etc. All of which, resulted in an unexpected total open abdominal hysterectomy 6/19/24. Sadly, Katelyn had hoped to have another child in the near future as she’s dreamt of it for the past 6+ years. Since then, she has not been able to recover. She has been in and out of the hospital, experiencing post-op complications - complications that happen in less than 1% of people. Her most recent post-op complications has been 2 intrabodminal abscesses. Thankfully she was able to catch the infection before turning septic. Unfortunately, Katelyn still has a long road ahead of her. She has had the unfortunate luck of very poor medical care, and in result, her doctors have not been successful with getting her back to health. Her recent round of antibiotics

for the abbesses was ineffective, she will be returning to the hospital on 7/20/24 to begin a new course of antibiotics, which will go on for an additional two weeks.

During all of these struggles, she has exhausted all of her savings and PTO. Not knowing when she will be able to go back to work, she has applied for short term disability. She applied in May of this year and has had no luck with getting the paper work sent in correctly, and disability is now fighting her claim deeming it “unsubstantial.” Unsure of if or when funds will be coming in, we are asking for your help in any way possible.

Katelyn has always been a person that would give the shirt off of her back for a complete stranger. She loves and gives and cringes at the idea of taking a single penny from anyone. Even tho she was struggling immensely with her physical health, she still pushed through school and graduated with her RN in Dec ‘21 and continued to work as a nurse all through her struggles and pain. She continues to put others first and is only wanting to get back to work as soon as possible. Knowing she cannot ever have another biological child, she is devastated. I’m hoping with this page, she can finally meet her own needs and remove some of the financial and emotional stress that’s been dumped on her.
