Jono Ma, one of the most brilliant musical minds to come out of Australia the last few decades, is in dire need of your support…

You might know his work with Foals, Flight Facilities, Shura, Underworld, Jonti, Genesis Owusu, Tracy Thorn, Andrew Weatherall or myself, among countless others. You might know his band ‘Jagwar Ma’, or as a DJ or just know him as ‘Jono’, that friendly guy that lights up every room he steps into.

The knowledge, the charisma, the impeccable taste & the dedication to the craft, for as long as I’ve known Jono, every action he’s taken has elevated the people around him.

Even before COVID, he faced some pretty unfair health conditions that forced him to leave his life in London & return to Australia… But he found the silver lining… The man of the world became the wizard of Aus, settling up a humble home & studio in Byron, helping emerging & established local & international talent find & polish their sound.

Despite what some may think, success does not always bring fortune. Jono is a man of the people; he’s about the grit, he’ll choose art over dollars every day of the week & I know he’s put almost everything he had into vintage gear, record collections, equipment and events.

That's why it brought me such sadness today, to hear he’s lost so much of his life to these floods… There are countless items that cannot be replaced & not covered by insurance… He & his partner (with two kids) are now without a home or a place to work.

A fan, a friend, a colleague, a casual acquaintance, anyone that resonates with this situation, please give what you can. Either here on this gofundme, or please get in contact with us if you are in the area, a tradie or can help with the cleanup and the rebuild.

Every little bit will count.

Please note* all proceeds will go to helping rebuild his home and studio and full disclosure and transparency will be available to those that request it.

Much love & thanks

Chris Emerson
