Help Jonah Fight Cancer — Again.
Donativo protegido
Our sweet Jonah just turned 11 years old. He’s smart, funny, kind-hearted, and full of strength far beyond his years. He’s already been through so much—and now, he’s being asked to fight again.
In 2020, when Jonah was just 6 years old, he was diagnosed with leukemia (B-cell ALL). He underwent more than two years of chemotherapy. It wasn't easy and he fought through a lot, including unexpected complications and extra hospital stays due to a blood clot, Covid-19, and a rare form of pneumonia. He proudly rang the end-of-treatment bell in September 2022, when he was 8 years old. His oncology team was happy with his recovery, and based on genetics testing and his body's response to chemotherapy, they determined that he had a very low-risk of relapse (5%).
We celebrated his end-of-treatment with a Make-A-Wish trip to DisneyWorld, and slowly, life began to feel normal again. Jonah had some long-term side effects from chemo, and he had to figure out how to move on from such a traumatic experience at such a young age. Still, after some time, he started growing, gaining energy, and got to just be a kid again (he even tried out mixed martial arts for a while!)
Then, in May 2025—just two weeks after his 11th birthday—we went to what we thought was a routine checkup. Jonah felt fine. He had checkups with his oncologist frequently throughout the past three years, and after this visit he was only going to need to see the team once a year. His oncologist gave him a clean bill of health, signed his medical form to allow him to attend summer camp the next month, and told us, “See you in a year!” But as we were walking out of the hospital, she called us back. The lab had just called her to report abnormal cells that they saw under the microscope. Two days later, our worst fear was confirmed: Jonah had relapsed. The leukemia was back.
The next day, he got to go to his last day of elementary school. The day after that, we were back in the hospital—surgery, port placement, and chemotherapy all over again.
We still don’t know exactly what the treatment plan will look like this time. A stem cell transplant is on the table. To start out, he has received higher doses of chemotherapy. The first weeks of treatment have already been difficult—Jonah has been very sick and has had complications that required extra care and longer hospital stays. He was in the hospital for a week to have surgery and receive his first round of chemotherapy. We were then able to go home, but after just a few days, he was right back in the hospital for another two weeks for some serious complications from the chemotherapy. He has already experienced a lot of pain, sickness, and emotional turmoil in this first month.
We’re doing everything we can to support Jonah, but the financial burden is growing quickly. We’ve had to take time off work to be by his side, and we know there will be many more missed days ahead. The medical bills are already starting to add up and we are only at the very beginning of this new journey.
We’re asking for help—not because it’s easy, but because we need it. Your support will help us stay afloat financially during this unimaginably difficult time. It will help cover hospital bills, travel to and from treatments, lost income, and everything else that comes with a second cancer battle.
More than anything, we want Jonah to be able to focus on healing, and for our family to focus on being there for him.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, sharing, and supporting Jonah's fight. Every donation, every kind word, every share—it all means more than we can say.
With gratitude,
Jonah’s mom ❤️
