Our dear friend and colleague Joanne Baker set decorator Local 44, has lost everything. Her home was in the Pacific Palisades, and everything she worked for in her life was destroyed. Joanne had 15 minutes to evacuate; can anyone imagine? All of her worldly belongings now sit on my kitchen table. These devastating wildfires have ravaged more than real estate. Joanne now faces the daunting task of rebuilding her life from the ground up. I’ve watched her begin to navigate the systems toward recovery. It's daunting and has proven to be unsupportive. There is no immediate funding to help anyone. It could take weeks to months for Joanne to see any support. The photo above is her street. Many of us in the entertainment business have gone through a difficult couple of years: the pandemic, the strikes, and a work slowdown.
