On Friday, December 5th, my friend Jaycee experienced a traumatic accident when her finger was caught in a bike chain. In the struggle to free herself, her pinky finger was severed at the first knuckle, leaving bone exposed and the entire top of her finger missing. She rushed to the ER with her fingertip on ice, but was sent home with only gauze and no real treatment. Desperate for help, Jaycee tried another hospital, but they did not have a hand specialist available and referred her to a surgeon for an outpatient procedure.

For four days, Jaycee endured pain and uncertainty, her finger still exposed and untreated, until she was finally able to see a surgeon.
