Hi Everyone,

My name is Monica and I’ve created this GoFundMe on behalf of my younger brother, Jacob.

Last year, Jacob lost his best friend due to a fatal accident. This past July, Jacob and some friends got together to remember and celebrate his friend who had passed. Unfortunately, Jacob suffered a horrible injury that night when a faulty firework exploded in his hand. As a result, he lost four of his fingers on his dominant hand and sustained a neck injury that nearly cost him his life.

Jacob’s family feels extremely fortunate to still have him with us. Currently on a long road to recovery, and adjusting to a new reality, he is in very good spirits and is determined to not let this injury define the rest of his life. We created this GoFundMe to raise money to help pay for a prosthetic hand for Jacob, specifically the “i-Digits™ Quantum” from ÖSSUR (https://www.ossur.com/en-us/prosthetics/arms/i-digits-quantum). The money raised will be used to cover the out-of-pocket cost for the prosthetic hand after insurance, as well as required routine maintenance and treatment to ensure proper functionality. 

Jacob is a kind-hearted and promising young man. There is still so much he is determined to accomplish in life. This prosthetic hand will help to ensure Jacob has fewer hinderances as he resumes day-to-day activities, but more importantly, as he pursues personal and professional goals for himself. Jacob has the support of his family, and we are kindly asking for donations to provide him even greater support - any and all contributions are welcome and are greatly appreciated.
