Help Hannah Fund Her Master’s Degree in Music

Hello everyone! My name is Hannah Crocker and I am a classical soprano originally from Wiltshire. I am currently in my first year of the two-year Master of Performance degree at the Royal College of Music (RCM), studying under Amanda Roocroft, where I am a Theo Max van der Beugel Scholar. I need to raise £11,750 to cover the tuition fees for my second and final year of the course.

Before commencing my studies at the RCM, I was awarded a Bachelor of Music degree with first-class honours at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where I studied under Alison Wells and Joan Rodgers. I am delighted to have been awarded the Director's Prize of Excellence in Voice from Trinity Laban, and am excited to represent the vocal faculty in their Gold Medal Showcase Competition later this year.

During my time at the RCM so far, I have actively sought as many performance opportunities as possible, recently working with an ensemble from the Historical Performance department to record works by female composer Barbara Strozzi. Alongside this, I recently performed the title role in an excerpt from Handel's Theodora as part of the RCM Opera Scenes. Earlier this year, I was chosen to perform in an RCM masterclass with the renowned singer Brindley Sherratt. 

It was an absolute honour to be awarded a scholarship for my first year of study at such a prestigious and historical institution, but unfortunately it is not yet clear whether I will be awarded another scholarship for my second year of study.

The intense nature of the course alongside various performance commitments makes it almost impossible for me to work part-time to fund my studies. However, I hope to begin teaching singing and music theory during my second year to gain invaluable teaching experience and help support my studies.

The Postraduate Master's Loan from the UK government is a single payment of £11,222, which I have had to divide over the two years of my course. I managed to fund my first year, but am now in desperate need of funding for my second year, so that I can continue pursuing my dream of working internationally as an opera singer.
