Help Grace with Year 2 of High School

This Grace Nyanguthie. Last year when Grace finished her time at Star of Wonder (grades k-8) we raised the funds for her to attend her first year of high school. We are pleased to say Grace did wonderful in almost all of her classes and is ranked #3 out of all the students in her grade!

 

We are so proud of Grace and the amazing work is doing and want more than nothing to send her into year 2 of high school to continue her education and keep her protected from the dangers of the slum that very commonly include sex slavery, rape, and prostitution.

 

As previously mentioned, at age 6 Grace's father died and her mother was unemployed with many children leaving her unable to care for Grace which eventually left her in the care of her aunt. Unfortunately the fees for school are very far out of reach for her aunt. If Grace is unable to attend school she will be forced to become a maid in order to earn money which will put her in a vulnerable position and cut her education short. This sad reality is extremely common for many young girls and women in the slum and without education they fall victim to rape, sex slavery and abuse as well as prostitution just to survive. Just this past year, Grace had a terrifying experience where she was almost raped by an old watchman trying to pay $2 to assault her. Luckily our teacher Juliet was nearby and managed to save her.
