Help GLCC Professor Dr. Charlie Starr
Donation protected
Dr. Charlie Starr was recently hospitalized with a life-threatening infection resulting from a procedure to remove a kidney stone. Because a recent job change (and subsequent change in his health insurance) he will be responsible for a large out-of-pocket family maximum expense of $13,600.
Dr. Charlie Starr was recently appointed Professor of English and Humanities at Great Lakes Christian College. While not as well known in Michigan, Dr. Starr has impacted thousands of former students from Kentucky Christian University and Alderson Broaddus University. Additionally, his network includes hundreds of scholars, authors, and fans who recognize his expertise on C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein.
Charlie and Becky's house near the recently closed Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia has not yet sold. Though they have rented an inexpensive apartment in student housing at Great Lakes Christian College, the expense of maintaining their former home adds to the financial strain.
It is no secret that Bible College professors make financial sacrifices because they are committed to the mission of Christian higher education. Charlie and Becky have sacrificed their entire adult lives to impact the students he has taught.
Now is a chance for their former students, friends, and colleagues to show our appreciation by sharing their financial burden during this difficult time. All gifts resulting from this GoFundMe campaign will go directly to Charlie and Becky to pay for his medical expenses.
