Help Give Keith the Gift of Hearing!

This fundraiser was created to allow everyone who expressed interest in donating towards the cost of Keith's bilateral cochlear implant surgery to donate in one place.
  
About 10 years ago, Keith began losing his hearing, which has gotten progressively worse each year. In June 2019, Keith & DaVonna traveled to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN where testing revealed significant inner ear damage in both ears. Testing also revealed he has almost no ability to hear sounds above anything similar to the frequency of bass drum in music. His left ear is functioning at 2% and his right is functioning at 4% in word recognition and sounds. He is legally deaf. Doctors confirmed that the damage was likely caused by a genetic marker that was destined to manifest at some point in his life regardless of what he did or didn’t do.

Keith's surgery is scheduled for November 14, 2019. After surgery, Keith will not be able to work for up to one month as he could potentially be completely deaf. Three weeks after surgery, he will return to Vanderbilt for doctors to turn on the cochlear implants. Once the implants are turned on, he will have follow up appointments at 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months, as well as required speech therapy to help him work through any potential issues with speech recognition. 

Anyone who knows Keith, knows he has a huge heart and the best bear hugs around.  Many people take their hearing for granted every day, but for Keith, it will be a gift to have. He will get his life back and will once again be able to hear the voices of his family and friends.

100% of donations will go to Keith & DaVonna to help cover their part of surgery costs, required speech therapy, six trips to Nashville for follow up appointments over the next year, and financial support for the amount of time he will be out of work while he recuperates.
