Together, we can give 76 girls the freedom to stay in school – with dignity, confidence and pride.

Hi, I’m Jennie Powell, and I’m fundraising on behalf of Amatsiko School in Kabale, Uganda.

Through my connection with their incredible founder, Alex Atuheire, I’ve had the privilege of supporting the launch of Amatsiko Tours – a social enterprise that helps fund the school – and working on small fundraising initiatives with the children and local community.

Now, we’re taking on one of the most urgent challenges:
Supporting girls to manage their periods safely, confidently – and without missing out on their education.

⸻

Why This Matters

In Uganda, period poverty is a major barrier to education.
Without access to safe, reliable period products, many girls miss school – or drop out altogether – because they simply can’t afford to manage their periods with dignity.

Reusable period underwear is a simple, sustainable solution:
• Comfortable
• Long-lasting (can be used for years with good care)
• Eco-friendly
• Easy to wash and reuse

Yet in Kabale, period pants are not available locally.
While amazing organisations are distributing reusable pads, period pants would be a true game changer – offering even greater comfort and protection, especially for younger girls new to managing their periods.

Currently, tampons (where available) are expensive and can cause health risks when worn too long due to the prohibitive cost. Disposing of them safely is another huge challenge for schools, requiring incineration.

⸻

Our Goal

We want to provide each of the 76 girls aged 9+ at Amatsiko School with a starter pack of 3 pairs of reusable period pants.
This will give them security and dignity – not just for a few months, but for years to come.

Fundraising target: £1,200
This will cover the cost of 228 pairs of high-quality, washable period underwear.

If we’re able to raise more, we’ll extend this support to even more girls and women in the wider community too.

⸻

✈️ I’m Visiting Uganda in June

At the end of June, I’ll be travelling to Kabale to visit Amatsiko School and the local community.

With full consent, I’ll be gathering:
• Photos showing the real impact of your support
• Stories and feedback directly from the girls and school team
• Insights that can help us grow and sustain this project long-term

This isn’t just a one-off donation.
It’s the beginning of giving these girls the tools and confidence they need to take control of their futures.

⸻

How You Can Help
• Donate whatever you can – every pound makes a difference.
• Share this campaign with your network.
• Tag friends, businesses, or brands who might want to support.

I’m also incredibly grateful to Kelly Newton at Nixi Body, who has already pledged support with a donation of period pants – helping us stretch these funds even further.

⸻

One girl. Three pairs of pants. One future changed.
Thank you for being part of this journey.

With huge gratitude,
Jennie
