Help Get Me Off The Bus!

Donation protected
Hello family, friends, baseball fans, animal lovers and others!

My name is Naomi and I so need your help. It is very hard asking folks for donations but it has become imperative that I get off the Los Angeles city bus!

My story is not for the faint of heart. For the last 8+ years I have traveled across Los Angeles by bus. I was ill and had to sell my beloved Civic. The San Fernando Valley alone is 270 sq. miles; that’s a lot of running around! It has been an arduous and sometimes frightening endeavor. From running from bus to bus in the heat carrying heavy packages, to being subjected to violence aboard in April for which I now carry a legal stun gun to defend myself. All the while wearing a mask and trying to distance.

I had taken 10-13 buses in one day, running around to doctor’s appointments and doing errands. True. One time in 110°, I was stuck on a corner in an industrial area for 35 minutes along with a very pregnant woman who didn’t seem stressed and a homeless man drinking alcohol! It is daunting for even a younger person. But at 64 and disabled, getting around and making arrangements to do so can be exasperating. I do have Cityride for their minibuses that can also be used for a taxi but both have been problematic for me and depend on my funds for that quarter. I don’t have the funds for Uber or Lyft.

During the pandemic it is extremely difficult to travel by bus as the drivers are cordoning off the front where the disabled seats are and not putting down the ramp for passengers with carts or walkers; and, they have run right past me if the bus is full. They don’t enforce the mask rule as some passengers just don’t comply. I sit as far away as possible; I wear glasses and sunglasses and have sanitizer at the ready. The fires have exacerbated conditions; having to wait for buses in the heat and smoke has added to difficulty. My mask has worn a mask!

Please help me raise funds for a vehicle!

I am a very resourceful person and have two advanced degrees in Management and Law but I have become virtually unemployable. I am “overqualified,” aged out and not bilingual in any language except Brooklynese! I want to work.

I love driving and I drive a manual transmission and I know if I had a vehicle, I would be employed. Although I don’t plan on doing rideshare or food delivery, I can be a legal courier, do medical transport or small load delivery. There have been legal jobs I qualify for but they require “your own transportation” so I don’t apply. Having been a Census Taker in 2010, I applied and was called for 2020 but because I didn’t have transportation, I didn’t qualify. Boo-hiss!

Please help me get back on my feet and out in the world being a productive member of society and resume my creative endeavors. I really miss driving, yes even in L.A.!

I am seeking to purchase an older model Honda Civic, 5spd, EX. Any funds after the purchase of said vehicle and all the fees associated to get on the road safely, (insurance, registration, maintenance, AAA, fuel, supplies, etc.) will be donated to the L.A. Animal Services Shelters and Pet Orphans of Southern California. As a retired Canine Behaviorist, I will provide a donor a free copy of my eBook, “The Crazy Canine, Is Your Dog Driving You Nuts?!” upon request.

If you aren’t able to donate, I completely understand but would you help me out by sharing this with folks you know? Donors, please feel free to donate anonymously (publicly) and I hope you will pass this fundraising request to your friends and family as well. You have my deepest gratitude!

Thank you sincerely,

Naomi
