Help get Betsy to Lausanne in South Korea!!

Don protégé
Fourteen years ago a friend and I had the incredible privilege of joining 300 stewards from around the world to serve and figuratively “wash the feet” of faith-full saints from every corner of the globe. Pairing up in at least 5-7 different language booths with my colleagues to provide simultaneous conference interpretation for men and women of God from around the globe was both exhilarating and exhausting. We arose early in the morning to set up and prepare for the Congress of 4,000 people and worked late into the night, collapsing into our bunks in train compartments at the African Train Hostel in Capetown, South Africa. On train platforms converted into “hostel lounges,” you’d find the stewards at all hours laughing, praying, dancing and singing in more than 20 languages.

Seeds of love for the global church that had been planted since childhood, germinated and started to sprout in those auditoriums as we knelt, prayed, worshipped, learned, collaborated and sang in worship styles from every continent.

Fast forward 14 years and I could never have imagined the life and ministry story God had written for me after that congress.

God called me down a path of learning to make life decisions not out of personal ambition. He patiently calls me to follow Him by faith into the unknown time and time again. He allowed me to continue serving and “washing the feet of the saints” around the globe in ways, places, and with people I never could have dreamed of. (I cherish those memories with so many of you who may be reading this.) He invited me to join the ranks of suffering saints, and it was in those trials, in the wilderness seasons, in losses, transitions, moves, extreme illnesses, betrayals, spiritual warfare and pain that He showed me His glory, His heart, His goodness and trustworthiness.

The seeds of love that had previously sprouted for collaborative kingdom work and for the radiance and beauty of the global church grew into lush trees.

When I heard that the once-in-a-generation Lausanne Congress was convening once again, but this time in Seoul, South Korea, I nominated every friend in influential global work that I could think of and applied as well! The next time this opportunity would convene would be in my “retirement age!” I had to give it a shot!

All that is done at Lausanne is shaped by a fourfold vision to see
1) the gospel for every person,
2) disciple-making churches for every people and place,
3) Christlike leaders for every church and sector, and
4) kingdom impact in every sphere of society.

The Lausanne Movement exists to accelerate global mission. It is done through connecting influencers and ideas across regions, missional issues, and generations. This has the potential of being the most diverse gathering of the global church IN HISTORY - including people groups that 14 years ago hadn’t even heard the beautiful and saving name of Jesus! They are expecting 5,000 people in person and 10,000+ virtually.

And …

I recently received a notification that a spot opened up for me to join … IN PERSON!!!
I am so humbled at this great honor.

Back when I served as a steward 14 years ago, I never thought I’d get to attend as a participant one day. To worship with, collaborate, and network with faith-full believers from every sector of society and country on earth for the purpose of seeing the Great Commission penetrate the unique gaps and needs of this generation … what a privilege!!

So … this is a 2-fold summons …

1. Tomorrow is my birthday (Aug 31) …
would you be willing to donate to help get me to Lausanne?!

2. The virtual Congress is still open and receiving applications. Please check it out and sign up online!! It is September 22-28th and would be WELL worth your time. Possibly one of the best investments you could make this fall.
