Help Gerardo "Fat Cat" Castillo Recover
Gerardo "Fat Cat" Castillo suffered a massive brain hemorrhage on January 7, 2021 due to complications from Covid-19. He underwent brain surgery for 7 hours. Less than 12 hours later he, again, had surgery....this time for 5 hours. Miraculously, he survived!
After spending 2 months in ICU, Gerardo regained the ability to breathe on his own after contracting pneumonia and being ventilated twice. He was then transferred to Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago. Now, the real journey had begun.
Gerry endured two months of intensive PT five days a week/7 hours per day. He relearned to use his upper and lower extremities and how to properly chew and swallow his food. He transitioned from a bed lift, to assisted transfers to transferring on his own with supervision. He went from a wheel chair to a walker and, finally, to a cane. All the while, he battled and continues to suffer PTSD, anxiety and insomnia.
Gerry has come a very long way. Science will say he shouldn't be here, let alone walking among us. GOD has other plans. So, we respectfully ask you donate to his continued journey by helping alleviate some of his medical expenses and continued care.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
