Help Galib build open learning in Bangladesh

Help Galib to travel from Bangladesh to present his work on open education at the Pan-Commonwealth Forum in Edinburgh, UK!

Galib Hasan is an open education leader from Chittagong, Bangladesh and has been invited to participate in the Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning on 9–12th September 2019 and needs our help to fund his travel to Edinburgh, UK for the event. Along with other participants, Galib will gather at the Forum to discuss his work with open education practices in a global context.

I often take it for granted that I can travel to attend conferences like the Forum, share my work, and make connections with peers. Such trips are much harder for people like Galib, who have fewer resources and opportunities, but are so valuable to support their growth and the development of their work. Join me to help Galib make this trip and bring back his experiences to enrich his work and his local community!

Galib has already received scholarship funding to cover registration for the event and his accommodations in Scotland, but he will be unable to attend the Forum without our help with travel expenses. If we can raise $1,900, Galib will be able to go to the Forum in Edinburgh!

I have come to know Galib as an inspiring, energetic leader who works to build open education in Bangladesh, collaborating with many international organizations, including the Wikimedia Foundation, Creative Commons, UNESCO, and Mozilla. Galib is a long-term Wikimedian and the founding member of Creative Commons Bangladesh Chapter.

Currently, Galib is leading an exciting project to introduce Bangladeshi educators in higher education to inquiry-based learning (IBL) using a variety of open educational resources (OER) against the backdrop of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Galib was recently selected to present virtually on this work at UNESCO’s Open Education for a Better World 2019 in Slovenia, along with thirteen other projects focused on building open education around the world.

Your contribution will enable Galib to connect his work face-to-face with other open educators. No contribution is too small...together we can help Galib extend the great work he is doing to build open education in Bangladesh!
