Help Filmmaker Bayer Mack Recover & Heal
Donación protegida
My name is Bayer Mack. I am an independent filmmaker of historical documentaries, most notably Black Seeds: The History of Africans in America and No Lye: An American Beauty Story.
On the 28th of June 2025, I was admitted to the hospital for dehydration and potential kidney failure.
The true diagnosis was a disease called achalasia, which is a rare esophageal disease that makes it difficult for food and liquid to pass into the stomach.
Achalasia affects one in every 200,000 people, and is extremely hard to diagnose due to lack of awareness.
I was finally discharged from the hospital on August 6 after a successful operation. During that time, I was unable to work and I am not rich. I am basically a one man operation and I reinvest what I earn.
I have lost over 60 pounds and it is difficult for me to walk. I am starting this GoFundMe to help with bills during my rehabilitation and recovery.
