Help Elisabeth Get a Myoelectric Hand

Elisabeth was attacked by a shark on June 7th this past summer. She sustained severe injuries that include an amputated left arm (mid forearm) along with severe trauma to her midsection. She was in the hospital for 60 days and has been home since early August. Her plan of care continues with an array of surgeries that include nerve repairs, laser surgeries and plastic surgeries. It has been a long road.

Elisabeth's medical team has strongly recommended a myoelectric prosthetic hand, a specialized device that is powered by the residual muscles in the arm sending signals to the device which causes the prosthetic wrist and hand to perform specialized tasks. Without this hand Elisabeth faces a future marked by limited skills , stunted mobility and a diminished quality of life.

Elisabeth's insurance company denied coverage citing her policy has an exclusion for myoelectric devices. She is devastated as she was scheduled to receive hers Christmas Eve.

Elisabeth hopes to raise the money from generous donations from concerned public.

A myoelectric is her best chance for a dependent and functional life.
