Help Drew Fight Lymphoma (Cancer)

Update: 7/9/23

Drew is home after completing his first round of chemo. He’s settling in at our Moms house, and having a bit of a tough time physically with side effects. Today he’s battling quite a bit of pain

Thank you all for continuing to support Drew, I know multiple times he thought no way the go fund me is going to keep going up and when it would - that surprise of love and support means so much. Obviously this is going to be so tough financially, and you all have made such a difference. ❤️‍❤️

Update: 7/1/23 Last night while Drew was at home waiting to begin treatment Monday, his breathing reached a critical point. He had to be rushed to the ER, where they worked to stabilize his blood pressure. He’s been admitted to evergreen, and is going to start chemo tomorrow to start shrinking this tumor. He’s pretty uncomfortable, anxious but ready to get this treatment going. He’s been blown away by everyone’s love, support, prayers and of course donations that have relieved so much stress. Love you all and again thank you ♥️For those of you who know Drew closely, you know that ever since he was a young boy he has struggled with his health and having the opportunity to live a “normal” life. If you don't know him closely you may have never known this since Drew doesn’t talk about his health struggles to many people. He was forced to miss out on things he wanted to do time after time. He’s made many many sacrifices. Like any teenager in this position, it was not easy mentally. However, Drew picked himself up, graduated high school, and worked full time at Willows Golf Course. He thrived, and was promoted to positions unheard of at his teenage age. Now that he finally has a career he loves, happy relationship with the woman he wants to spend his life with, amazing apartment in Kirkland, loving life ………cancer. 23 years old. Lymphoma. A few months ago Drew started having a persistent cough that wouldn’t budge. He was given inhalers, antibiotics, all the normal things that should solve this for a 23 year old. No improvement. Drew pushed through, working, living life - until he couldn’t breathe and his cough was only getting worse. On Sunday June 25th, Drew went into the ER hoping to finally get the right cocktail to kick this bug. Never in a million years imagining the horrible news we were about to hear. “We found a large mass”. CT scan showed a very large mass, right on top of his heart, pushing against his lungs and creating his cough. Labs along with the CT, confirmed cancer. The next 24 hours are a big blur for Drew, and our whole family. His Dad drove 30 hours straight to make it to the hospital, delirious by the time he arrived. Mom unable to stop shaking, and being physically ill. Drew stayed strong for those around him. Anyone who has been touched by cancer personally, or from a loved one, knows the traumatic experience of being told horrible news like this. Drew has a tough year ahead of him. He has what the oncologist described as a treatable, curable, but aggressive cancer. He is going to have to start chemotherapy right away next week. He will need to be admitted for his first round in the ICU. However, CURABLE is what we are focused on, and WILL achieve. To focus on this battle, Drew has to once again sacrifice so much. His job that he loves, the apartment he loves, (obviously he will lose his hair and not recognize himself for a little while). Once again, he is forced to put the life he wants and deserves to live on hold. He will be doing intense chemo, then a recovery program which in total will be about a year before he is able to work again. While we are not focused on it, we know that we have intense medical bills coming. We also want to help Drew financially with basic expenses. At 23, most of us live paycheck to paycheck, and his ability to work has been taken from him. Our goal for this campaign is to create as much of a stress free environment for Drew as possible including financial stress, anything donated will go directly to Drew’s medical care, or him personally for basic daily life expenses. Thank you for reading, and for all your love and support during this extremely difficult time for Drew and our family. Love, The Pennington’s & Garton’s
