It's been a rough year for my dad and me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June and I'm still not back to full-time work because of setback after setback. But now my dad needs a hand up. He has been winning his fight against emphysema for 16 years, and it's pretty stable. But he has developed overlapping asthma over the last two years which has been, quite literally, killing him. His pulmonologist wants to start a new medication called MEPOLIZUMAB, but our out-of-pocket cost would be $500 per month. The drug has not been approved for use in eosinophilic asthma, which is the form my dad has. The VA does not have this drug (My dad is a veteran of the U. S. Army). Dr. Sciurba strongly feels the mepolizumab will really help him, but the cost is just simply beyond our reach. Please consider helping my dad. He was cutting the grass two summers ago, and now can't walk from one end of our home to another without gasping for air. Thank you from the bottom of my broken heart.
