Help Derek Truong With His Medical Expenses
Donativo protegido
Time is of the essence....Please help donate to help Derek's mom to cover the cost of his medical expenses. He is in need a very expensive drug (Keytundra), that without insurance can cost up to $30,000 a treatment. It can take weeks to get approval. He is currently in the ICU battling for his life.
Below is his story written by his sister Vannic...
Here’s a quick backstory on Derek’s story and diagnosis. Derek self-admitted to St. Luke’s on Barry rd in the beginning of November where they found that he has cancerous masses in his abdominal area. Derek was then transferred to St. Luke’s Of Kansas City on November 13th where they would start taking samples and biopsies to try and figure out what type of cancer he is battling.
Derek and his doctors soon found out that his blood levels were nowhere near where they should be and he was on the risk of bleeding out. After waking up from his liver biopsy on November 16th Derek’s body went into shock and he was put into a medically induced coma. The doctors didn’t know if he’d make it but luckily with a lot of love and support from nurses, doctors and family Derek woke back up 5 days later. With the liver and bone marrow biopsy, the doctors were able to identify his primary as thymus cancer and his secondary as liver cancer.
Derek was released from the hospital December 3rd with the plans of going through 8 rounds of chemotherapy but unfortunately his body has not been healing and coping with the cancer as smoothly as the doctors would have hoped. He’s been in and out of the hospital the past 6 weeks.
For anyone who may not know Derek, he’s a little bit about him:
Derek is a 23 year old who is a big brother to 3 younger siblings. He’s the oldest and has always been the funniest. Derek went to Park Hill High School and graduated from Kearney High School. He then started his career in construction right after graduating. Derek is an immaculate person and we are looking forward to him beating this cancer and getting back on track with his life.
This page is made in hopes to help his mother, Van Truong pay for his medical expenses from the chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
Thank you for all of your donations. Feel free to reach out and keep him in your prayers. Thank you so much.
