### Brief Introduction

My name is Bassem Ali, a resident of Ottawa (Canada). With the help of local friends in Gaza and in Ottawa, we have been able to launch several initiatives to help provide vital assistance to many families who are in dire need in Gaza. We're now starting a fundraising campaign to support this urgent humanitarian effort.

#### The Crisis

Over 2.3 million people in this region are in desperate need of aid and protection due to the ongoing conflict. Civilians are enduring unimaginable hardships, and families caught in this devastating situation require immediate help. The conflict has resulted in the permanent destruction of key infrastructure and industries that the Palestinian people depend on for survival. Many families are now displaced and living in tent cities in Rafah, Khan Younis, and Deir Al Balah without access to basic services and life essentials. Many families are struggling in order to survive.

#### Our Response

Our initiatives have been focused on delivering life-saving assistance to the vulnerable communities in collaboration with trusted local partners from within these communities. We have been providing support and assistance to many displaced families mainly in the crowded tent Camps scattered in the remote areas of Rafah, Khan Youness and Deir Al Balah areas of Gaza.

Hundreds of displaced families have benefited from our initiatives (each took place multiple times over the last 5 months):

1. Contracted with Water suppliers to provide fresh drinking water.

2. Distributed Food Packages (Vegetables, cooking Oil, Canned Foods, Flour, sugar, other food items)

3. Supplied Sleeping Mattresses and blankets

4. Contracted with local kitchen services to make ready meals during the fasting month of Ramadan

5. Supply Diapers to families with new born babies and toddlers

6. Supplied Sanitary and Feminine Hygiene Items

7. Built Clay Ovens in strategic places within walking distances inside the camps to enable families to bake own bread, without the need to venture into dangerous areas.

8. Purchased Woods to enable families to bake bread to feed themselves.

9. Provided funding (small cash sum) for many families who couldn't afford leaving the dangerous areas of Rafah to relocate to safer places. This was a life saving initiative that enabled many to leave before Rafah became a battle zone.

10. Funding of Petrol stations to supply diesel to water pumps in order to make service water available within some tent camps

11. Purchased clothing and shoes for children (most children in these camps walk barefooted)

12. Helping a number of pregnant women to buy essentials materials needed for delivery and for their newly born babies

13. Fund some initiatives to help lessen the impact of war on children by celebrating happy events (Eid) by hiring clowns, and distributing sweets and Cotton Candy

14. Helped some individuals with special needs by providing monetary assistance

And many others smaller scale initiatives that helped alleviate misery and pain.
