Help Deb Charlson fight Leukemia!

Pictured here is Deb Charlson along with her 2 sons, Ronnie, Shawn and her husband Eric. Not pictured is her daughter Sadi. Deb is 47 years old, an amazing mother, wife, daughter, friend and more! She has spent most of the past year in and out of different hospitals due to complications from HOCM (Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy). After her last visit to St. Anthony Hospital in Indiana for bronchitis and pneumonia she was sent to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center because of low blood counts. Masonic continued to run tests and after completing a bone marrow biopsy, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on July 20, 2018.
Deb is now at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Illinois where she just completed 6 rounds of ChemoBlast! For those who don't know, that means a rotation consisting of 3 hours of chemotherapy, 12 hours rest another 3 hours of chemotherapy and this continued for 6 days. Chemo's main job is to lower the blood counts to fight the Leukemia cells but unfortunately, the complications of HOCM make it necessary to keep her counts higher. Therefore, Deb has to receive blood transfusions daily in an attempt to keep her platelet, hemoglobin and potassium levels a little higher.
Deb will undergo her 2nd bone marrow biopsy on Tuesday, August 7th. This is to find out if her bone marrow is functioning properly. Deb will get the preliminary results Wednesday with the full report coming in Friday, August 10th. Depending on the results, it could mean another round of the ChemoBlast and continued stay in the hospital. Deb also has a rare blood type and will soon be placed on the "Be the Match" registry is search of a donor for a stem cell transplant.
Deb and her family need your help during this battle against AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia)! Deb has insurance but it does not cover all their expenses. We are asking for your donations to help them with the following:
- Loss of income
- Daily living expenses
- Travel to and from hospitals/treatments
- Additional medical expenses
Deb is a true blessing to all who know her and your generosity will greatly appreciated. We thank you in advance for any and all donations received and will provide updates as we know more.
Please visit the site www.bethematch.org to find out more about the procedure and how you can register to be a donor!
We also believe in the power of prayer so please join me praying for strength and healing for Deb Charlson!
Thank you and God Bless You!
