Critically Ill Vietnam Vet - Uncovered Foreign ICU

Overview: My Uncle John Hopkins is currently in critical condition, admitted to a Costa Rican private ICU. Public care is inadequate given his unstable condition, yet the private care there he needs to receive runs at $5,000 a night - uncovered by any form of insurance or Medicare. Our family is seeking assistance in any form, in hopes of being able to stabilize and subsequently transport him back to the US for quality insured care.

John Brewster Hopkins is many things – among them, a Veteran of the Vietnam War, peace-loving activist, small business owner, caring father, and loving husband to my Aunt. She is currently by his side at the only facility capable of caring for him in his critical condition. Unfortunately, Insurance and Medicare will not cover these expenses, and credit cards are being maxed out just to keep him stable. John has helped so many people in his life yet now finds himself in a position where he is the one in need of assistance.
