On Tuesday, my partner and I noticed our dog Charlie not bearing much weight on her back right leg. We took her to the vet who diagnosed her with a dislocated hip and gave her 7 days bed rest.

On Thursday, i noticed it hadn’t improved at all and thought I would take her to a specialist.

There she was diagnosed with IVDD.

She had to go into emergency spinal surgery that evening to prevent her from becoming paralysed.

We’ve always had pet insurance, but 2 weeks ago changed to a new plan which had more coverage as my friend had to get his dachshund put down recently due to IVDD . This meant that I was still in the 30 day cooling off period with my new insurance company, therefore they couldn’t cover any of the costs of her emergency surgery.

My partner and I would appreciate any donations anyone could spare to help cover some of the costs of the $17,000 surgery and recovery process.

I understand it’s a huge ask but it would mean the world to us to help Charlie get the help she needs and deserves.
