Update: One Year Strong and Still fighting !

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

It is with both a heavy heart and enduring hope that I share an update about my dear friend, Christy Ballard (Jacobs), a selfless, compassionate woman who continues to face the fight of her life.

Almost a year ago, on October 31, 2024, Christy was diagnosed with HER2 triple-positive breast cancer, one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer. Since then, she has endured four major surgeries, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, and severe complications with radiation. Despite these setbacks, she remains unwavering in her faith, courage, and determination to overcome this disease.

Her Journey

Christy’s cancer is fueled by estrogen, progesterone, and the HER2 protein, which makes it aggressive, but also treatable with the right combination of therapies. She has completed several rounds of chemotherapy and, as of now, has started a new chemo regimen that will continue through June 2026. Radiation had to be paused due to complications, but she remains hopeful to restart in the coming weeks.

Her treatments have been intense, both physically and emotionally, and she continues to battle additional challenges from autoimmune diseases that make recovery more complicated. There have been moments of deep exhaustion and pain, but also incredible faith and gratitude for every step forward.

Through it all, Christy keeps her sense of humor, her love for others, and her belief that she will beat this. Her strength inspires everyone around her.

Her Family and Faith

Christy is the proud mother of two wonderful sons, Tyler and Preston, and a doting grandmother to her precious grandson, Karter, who lights up her world. Her family, close friends, and community mean everything to her. Those who know Christy describe her as the kind of person who lifts everyone else up, and now, it’s our turn to lift her.

She’s learned firsthand that cancer doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed, it touches everyone who loves them. Her sons, family, and friends have walked every step of this journey beside her, offering strength, faith, and countless acts of love.
