This is Chewie (Chewbacca) and she is a much loved part of my friend, Shelley's little family. Shelley is a single mum with 2 children and 3 feline children. On Friday night Chewie didn't come at dinner time and Shelley couldn't find her anywhere, we thought she had gone missing. It turns out Chewie had been hiding somewhere in the house because she was feeling so sick, and had bleeding from her backside. She was barely moving and refusing all food and water.

Chewie was admitted into a veterinary hospital due to Acute Pancreatitis, Colitis and severe thickening of her bowel. Tonight will be her 4th night. As the costs rise for her Vet care, IV antibiotics and fluids, ultrasounds, blood tests and the insertion and management of a feeding tube (because she is still refusing food & water), Shelley has to make a heartbreaking decision to either STOP treatment and let her go, or face financial ruin. Chewie's care is ongoing, the costs continue to increase and are mounting day by day. The fees are up to more than $6000 currently and will increase by $1100 each night.

Shelley is even considering selling the family car to pay for the veterinary costs. This would make it very difficult for her to get to her job as a nurse. While Shelley works at the hospital caring for our family members who are unwell, including on the coronavirus front line, let's come together to help Chewie get home ❤

I am asking anyone who can donate, even if it's $5, to help her with Chewie's costs of veterinary care, so she can make a full recovery and return home to her feline brother and sister, and her human brother and sister.

After the loss of a much loved family pet already this year, Shelley cannot stand the thought of losing a second member of her little family, let alone explaining it to her young children.
This is her last hope at being able to cover the costs of providing the care she needs, and Shelley's little family would be forever grateful for whatever you can spare to help her Chewie return home.
