Help Casper J.—FULL moving truck STOLEN

Casper Joergensen and his wife Marion had just finished packing and loading everything they owned into a U-Haul this past weekend and were about to leave Oakland for Marion’s new job in Irvine, California. Casper stepped away from the locked van for 5 minutes to get a drink of water, and in less than a minute, a thief broke open the U-Haul truck door, hot-wired the truck, and sped away with their possessions.

The empty U-Haul was found two days later (Mon., 2/8) as a result of a tip from a news article about the theft, but unfortunately, none of his items were recovered. They lost sentimental items, baby photos, clothes, their furniture, and, with the exception of a few personal items, nearly everything else they own.

In addition to the devastation and emotional toll of being victimized, they need to arrange alternate travel arrangements, deal with police reports, and navigate insurance angles, red tape, reports, etc. It will be a long time before they get back on their feet.
