Hi. My name is Donna and my husband Carl and I's children, have started this fundraiser to cover unpaid long term in-patient care for Carl DeCicco, Jr. This is his story:

Carl has been battling COPD for about 10 years now. After winning his bout with lung cancer in 2021, he became oxygen dependent. On the night of February 27, 2025, Carl went into cardiac arrest three times due to being unable to exhale the correct amount of carbon dioxide. While his life was saved, he has been ventilator dependent since that night.

After a month in the ICU, he was transferred to a specialized hospital in an attempt to get the tracheostomy removed. However, their one-month attempt to free him of the vent were unsuccessful. He has since then been moved to a nursing and rehab facility.

We expect that Carl will be sent home on a ventilator in about a month (early June) if we are unable to pay for long term in-patient care. This is where he and his family need your help. The out-of-pocket cost of one MONTH of long term inpatient care in the facility he is in costs $38,610.00. The amount of funds we are hoping to raise with this fundraiser will pay for 3 months. While we would love to bring Carl home, he unfortunately has cognitive and mobility issues in addition to the ventilator and long term care is the best option for him. If that changes, your donations will be used to pay for in-home care.
