Hello friends, my name is Thomas Carey Cowart. Most friends and family know me and call me by Carey, but I am definitely a Thomas as well.
I was born and raised in Lexington, KY, until in 1988, mom and I packed up the Nissan and headed west to Las Vegas. After graduating HS and starting university on a music scholarship, I started my long career in the healthcare field. From courier and central supply, to sterile processing and operating room positions, followed by medical sales and 17 years as a certified Hemodialysis technician.
Right in the middle of that period, I met the love of my life and soul mate Karen Jaikowski.
And I am proud to say we'll be celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary this fall.
We have led a blessed and fulfilling life together, setting goals to follow our dreams, succeeding, then setting some more. Always striving to enjoy life's experiences, while helping others whenever called upon.
As with many others, the COVID pandemic in 2020 totally changed our lives. We found that change in moving to our cabin in AZ that we had just completed renovations.
During that transition, I was struck by how powerful the healing powers of peace, natural serenity, and desert energies were.
I had a vision of creating a safe space for healthcare workers and their families to escape the chaos of COVID. A place to carry on, long after we're gone. We acquired adjacent property and have plans to resume the project, one phase at a time once I'm back on both feet.
So, 4 weeks ago we had some high wind gusts, causing literally half a Joshua tree to fall on our main water tank that feeds our house.
We were able to pull it most off the top of the tank with straps, but there was still part on the tank looking to puncture or cave in the entire tank.
I positioned my ladder on the opposite side where the branches were to fall. And it fell that way, but somehow bounced back catching my ladder. Falling 10ft, I stuck the landing too hard, causing an open tib fib fracture in too many pieces to count.
The funds will be to keep up our utilities, feed our animals, and ourselves.
Any donation is appreciated, and will offer camping space and accommodation as thanks.
Thank you. God Bless.
