Sponsor Cal Poly NSBE's Flights to Nationals!
Donación protegida
Hey there, my name is Amman Asfaw and I'm the current Treasurer for the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).
This academic school year our NSBE chapter (the reigning Regional Chapter of the Year ) is preparing to attend the rescheduled 46th annual NSBE National Convention in San Antonio, Texas from August 19-23, 2020 (due to coronavirus).
Unfortunately, because of recent California legislation AB 1887 , the state does not permit state-funded travel to Texas. As a result, our chapter cannot use funds tied to our school bank account (like we normally do) for traveling to Nationals.
To overcome this challenge, we are exploring and developing new ways of fundraising the money so we can still send 10-15 students to Nationals.
If you would like to support NSBE's mission, you can click the "Donate now" button on this GoFundMe page. 100% of your donation will go straight to a NSBE student's round trip flight costs (about $250 per student).
By helping sponsor a NSBE student's flight, you are manifesting the NSBE mission: "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community".
Please don't hesitate to contact Amman Asfaw ([email editado]) with any questions.
