Hello, I’m Alain – founder of Hand on Water.

Water scarcity already affects one in six people worldwide. For me, this is not just a global issue, but a personal mission: bring back water to places where it is missing.

At Hand on Water, we build simple, robust desalination systems powered only by solar energy. We use second life photovoltaic modules to generate clean energy and turn seawater into fresh water for soil, plants, farmers and coastal communities.

This year we will build our first fully functional pilot plant in Mataró, Spain, and test it for at least one year under real conditions.

We are a small, dedicated team and do not pay ourselves salaries. Every contribution goes directly into building and running the pilot.

Our goal is simple: to prove that decentralized, solar powered desalination can restore water access in dry coastal regions.

If successful, this pilot will be the foundation for scaling the system to other regions facing water scarcity.
