In the hills of Manchay, Lima, Peru, a humble neighborhood called La Bloquetera gathers every week to pray together.
Their faith is strong, but their chapel is not.
Today, the community protects the image of the Virgin Mary (called Virgen María de la Consagración) in a small, fragile structure built by the neighbors themselves. The space is exposed to weather and lacks the dignity the community hopes for.
For years, families have dreamed of building a proper chapel where people can gather, pray, and find peace. But resources are extremely limited. That is why we started this project.
The Project
Together with architects and students from Peru and Chile, in colaboration with the community itself, we designed a simple and beautiful wooden chapel that can be built with local labor and sustainable materials.
The design includes:
• a lightweight wooden structure
• a shaded gathering space
• low-water landscaping
• a peaceful place for prayer and community
The chapel will become more than a building. It will be a refuge for faith, community, and hope.
A Community Already Working for It
The residents are not waiting for help.
They have already organized community fundraising events, cooking together and raising small amounts of money to begin construction. But the total cost of materials exceeds what the community can raise on its own.
Our Goal
We aim to raise $10,000 to purchase the essential construction materials:
• structural wood
• roofing materials
• foundations
• lighting
• basic landscaping
With your help, this chapel can become a reality.
Why This Matters
For many communities around the world, places of worship are more than religious buildings.
They are places of:
• support
• unity
• hope
• belonging
Your donation will help create a space where an entire community can gather in dignity.
Every Contribution Makes a Difference
$10 – helps buy screws and connectors
$50 – helps buy structural wood
$100 – helps build the chapel walls
$500 – sponsors a part of the structure
Together we can build something meaningful.
Thank you for being part of this effort. Together with ArqPerú and the Faculty of Architecture at Universidad San Sebastián in Chile, we can help build a space of faith and community.
