Hi everyone, I’m Chase.

My 14-year-old brother-in-law and his 14-year-old girlfriend are about to become parents. She is currently in a very rural area of Guatemala after being detained by ICE and deported while pregnant.

Her due date is August 15th, and she is now safely at a hospital preparing to give birth to their baby boy. While we’re incredibly relieved that she and the baby are safe, the home she would return to after leaving the hospital is not a suitable place to raise a newborn. There is no plumbing, no reliable electricity, no cell service, and no car, making it extremely difficult to get to work or provide for the baby.

Our ultimate goal is to bring all three of them back to the United States

and reunite this young family. We want their son to grow up with both of his parents and have the support of his entire family around them.

Once the baby is born, we need to navigate establishing paternity, determining the baby’s U.S. citizenship or immigration status, obtaining legal guardianship if necessary, and figuring out what options the baby’s mother has to legally return to the United States.

We also have immediate needs while this process is happening. We need to cover expedited passports and other travel documents and, if possible, help them move into a safer and more suitable place to live. We’d also like to provide reliable transportation so the baby’s father can get to work and begin supporting his family.

The money raised will help cover attorneys, immigration and legal fees, passports and documentation, DNA testing if needed, transportation, flights, housing, and other unexpected costs along the way.

Unfortunately, our family doesn’t have the financial means to handle all of this on our own. That’s why we’re asking for your help.

These are two 14-year-olds who are about to become parents. We just want to give them and their baby the chance to be together, have a safe place to live, and be surrounded by the family who loves them.
