The Ballad of Ace - An independent Western film.
Howdy! My name is Jedric Villar, and I am a film student from the Northern Mariana Islands currently studying Film & TV in New Jersey. I'm currently in preproduction on this short film, a Western revenge drama set in the aftermath of the American Civil War.
The story follows Ace, a drifter whose life is torn apart when his wife is murdered by Dwight, a former Confederate officer who still holds on to his hatred and ideology. Alone, Ace is on a journey for justice, facing the violent racism of the Old West, and the struggles of finding belonging.
- This project means a lot to me, because it explores the themes of justice, grief, and identity. This story also brings a unique take on the Western genre, as the story is told through the eyes of an immigrant. Something many Westerns rarely show.
- As of now, we are in the pre-production stage. To move forward, we need help covering props, costumes, locations, and food for our cast and crew. Any donation, big or small, will bring this story to life. Donating will have you credited on this film.
