Before anything else, I want to thank every person who helps from the heart. I want to share my brother’s story. He is a 20-year-old diagnosed with autism since childhood—intelligent, generous, loving, and a very good student, always willing to help anyone in need without expecting anything in return. Today, unfortunately, it’s his turn to need help, and I am asking for support to give a little hope to someone who has been unconditional with friends and family.

He is being detained by ICE unjustly. In the middle of a legal process, ICE arrested him, and because he didn’t have papers, they took him away. We haven’t been able to see him for days, weeks; he’s been transferred from one state to another illegally. Today, I received his call, and I had a lump in my throat hearing his voice tell me that in the place where he’s being held in Texas, they don’t give him blankets, medicine, and very little food. He is sick—he developed a stomach infection—and all they do is threaten him, insult him for asking for medicine, and constantly mistreat him, pressuring him to sign deportation papers. They don’t care about his condition; he says the place is cold and he’s afraid, with very high fevers.

That’s why I am here today. The lawyers want to charge us a lot of money, and we don’t have the resources to get him out. He is suffering inside, and we are afraid something might happen to him. I look at my children, I see my mother, and I can’t imagine being in that situation. We are just trying to bring him back home. My mother suffers greatly—she doesn’t eat, doesn’t sleep, and spends her days crying, seeing her son in these conditions. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and to those who, with great effort, offer a little help. May God bless you.
