On July 11, 2026, our beloved friend and family member, Iliana Noeli Lick, was detained by ICE at Philadelphia International Airport while traveling to Kansas City to attend an Argentina World Cup match. Iliana is a 30-year-old woman from Buenos Aires, Argentina, who legally entered the United States on a visa and has been building a life in Philadelphia since September 2024. She lives with her boyfriend of 2+ years and works as a nanny for two South Philadelphia families, taking care of Aiden (4), Avery (1), and Noah (1). They adore her. To these kids, Iliana isn’t just a caregiver. She’s part of their family. Iliana is a trusted member of our community and has formed meaningful relationships with everyone who knows and loves her. Importantly, Iliana has no criminal history. Iliana is a peaceful, caring person with strong ties to the Philadelphia community. Her absence is deeply felt by the families and friends whose lives she has touched.
The first few days after her detention were incredibly difficult because we had no communication with her and did not know how she was doing. We have now been able to speak with Iliana. Although she is understandably scared and overwhelmed, she remains strong, hopeful, and incredibly grateful for all of the love and support she has received.
We are raising funds to help cover experienced immigration legal representation, a potential immigration bond (which has not yet been determined and could be substantial), and communication, travel, and other expenses directly related to her immigration proceedings. We want to be prepared to act immediately if she is granted the opportunity to return home while her case proceeds. Anyone who knows Iliana knows her kindness, resilience, and generous spirit. She has built a community in Philadelphia that cares deeply about her and wants to help her through this incredibly difficult chapter.
Today, we are asking for your help. If you are able to contribute, no amount is too small. Just as important, please share this page so it reaches more people, and keep Iliana in your thoughts and prayers. All funds raised will be used exclusively for Iliana's legal representation, a potential immigration bond, and expenses directly related to her immigration proceedings. Thank you for supporting Iliana and helping ensure that she has every opportunity to pursue her case with experienced legal representation and the support of her community.
With gratitude, Steven Melchoirre, Iliana's family, and the many friends who love and support her.
