Help Bring Hex & Quill Bake Co. To Veg Fest 2024

Hi Everyone,

This is Angel from Hex & Quill Bake Co. located in St. Paul.

Before this bakery existed, I graduated with my Master's in Human Factors Engineering in May 2024. Like many others in this job market, I have been struggling to find work within and outside of my field. I wasn't planning on starting this business until later this year, hoping to be more financially stable. However, after months of job searching since September 2023, I decided to create my own employment with the last $100 in my bank account. I wanted to do what I love and offer pastry options for those with dietary restrictions and vegans in the community. Pursuing this allows me to hone my scientific research skills through experimentation and testing, often starting at 5 AM. This is why the menu rotates frequently and relies on sourcing from farmers' markets and local goods.

Starting this bakery has been an incredibly humbling experience. I've learned so much from people who have never had the chance to try various pastries and to see them finally enjoy them. I also developed so much culinary skills through this experience too.

Hex & Quill Bake Co. has been gaining traction on social media weekly, but this hasn't necessarily translated to better profits. So far, I've been breaking even each week with community support. My next plan is to gain more exposure by attending events. I was recently invited to Veg Fest Twin Cities, but being a vendor means additional costs for packaging, supplies, equipment, rental and vendor fees.

Given my current life situation and the need to take time off for my 6th Endometriosis surgical procedure, it is challenging to find the necessary funds for this event.

I'm not one to ask for financial support, but I believe this opportunity could help make things work. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
