I'm reaching out to ask for your support as I prepare for life-changing care: my top surgery. I'm relieved about the gender-affirming aspects of tissue removal. Life was hard enough trying to coexist with the weight of a DD-sized chest that was hypersexualized on a daily basis - in every context - and is even harder to tolerate now that gender dysphoria has significantly worsened for me over the past six months. I've stopped doing activities I enjoy in public (like swimming, running, and yoga classes) because these bags are always perceived as being on display regardless of how many layers I have on or how tight of compression binders I wear. And the discomfort from suppressing them all the time is intensifying (my oversized emotional support sweater would like a break). I'm ready to be free and BREATHE with this weight off my chest.

As some know, my lower back was injured in the military. The pain has been increasingly severe and immobilizing over the past two years. Despite finding quality care and specialty support through tonal chiropractic work and pelvic physical therapy, I have not had lasting relief (to the point of withdrawing from required undergrad classes and having to resign from a physically demanding job). Every appointment has become a battle between Tricare and VA insurance for coverage. I have paid $8K+ out of pocket for adequate mental and physical health services, both of which were federally mandated to be covered. But per the usual, there is no accountability. I don't have the energy left to fight these systems right now in this way. I need lasting relief.

In short, this surgery is crucial for me to live a life without chronic pain, social hostility, and the burden of holding my breath/shrinking myself every time I leave the apartment. Transness, for me, represents a convergence of body, spirit, and hope where my identity can finally express internal manifestations of self-truth. While I’m *so dang grateful* to FINALLY have secured a top surgery date a year and a half in the making (which is also a privilege), the financial realities of the procedure are daunting. I'm asking for your help to cover expenses that go beyond what I can manage with the secured personal loan. Here’s a breakdown of what donations will help cover:

Surgery deposit and medical bills: Overall cost of surgery, anesthesia, and hospital fees - dependent on how long the procedure ends up taking (estimated to be $15,500+)

Travel costs: Driving to an out-of-state specialist (fuel: $300)

Recovery accommodations: Comfortable place to heal after surgery, including lodging for myself, Roxie, and two caregivers (Airbnb reservation: $2,000)

Post-op supplies and clothing: Specialized garments, wound care, medications, and anything else needed to support a safe recovery ($250)

Pet care: One week of pet care for the pack while away ($300)

Total estimation: $18,350+
