Hello to everyone who reads this, I‘m Tania and I am raising funds for the legendary icon, Bonnie Atwood. After being cancer-free for 12 years, Bonnie had a Leukemia relapse this past year. It pains me to even have to write this, but the type of Leukemia she has is very aggressive and most people do not recover or live past 9 months. The doctors do not think Bonnie will recover. I have started working less at my current job so I can help care for Bonnie along with her partner, Steve, and other friends. I am raising funds to help with Bonnie’s bills, mortgage, medical expenses and supplies, groceries, labor for end-of-life home care. Bonnie does not want to spend what could possibly be the end of her life in a nursing home and there is no reason she should have to.

Bonnie has worked extremely hard all the way up until she got sick, which forced her into retirement well after what most would consider to be “retirement age.” She worked extremely hard throughout her life not only to provide for herself but also for her son who has autism and is her greatest masterpiece. While Bonnie is battling cancer, she still takes time to work on her memoirs, which are almost done, and from what I have read/had her read to me, the finished book is going to be excellent. She is an amazing writer, journalist, lobbyist, friend, and mother. She has also done endless unpaid labor helping others, fighting for the rights of women and children, as well as being an advocate for people with autism. There is so much more I would like to share and probably will add more to this when I am able. For now, I am just trying to get this fundraiser going due to the urgent nature of Bonnie’s situation.
