Hi there! I’m Blaine, a transgender man, and I urgently need your help. My partner Kaylee and I are feeling increasingly unsafe in our community, particularly here in Texas, where the surge in anti-trans legislation has created a toxic atmosphere. Laws that restrict access to healthcare, education, and public accommodations for people like me leave us living in fear of discrimination and violence. We can no longer ignore the reality that we may not be safe here.

I’ve never been one to ask for help lightly. In the past, I’ve run GoFundMe campaigns where I sold artwork for donations, and I’m planning to do that again with upcoming LGBTQ+ pride t-shirts. But right now, we’re in a race against time. With two cats, mounting debt, and the financial burden of relocating to another country, we need to raise a significant amount of money quickly. Our goal is to move to France—a place where Kaylee, who is originally from there, can thrive, and where I can finally feel safe in my identity.

We plan to go back to school to obtain student visas. As students, we’ll be limited in how many hours we can work, so we need to fund our move, find a new apartment, and enroll in school—each costing between $7,000 and $10,000. Additionally, we’ll need to show we have $3,000 in our account for every six months we stay.

Kaylee aspires to attend art school, and I’m eager to enroll in Alliance Française to sharpen my French skills, immerse myself in a supportive culture, and enhance my chances of getting into a sports program later. I’ll be studying French for 20 hours a week over 43 weeks! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will allow me to live in a place where my gender identity doesn’t dictate how people treat me. I see us flourishing there, building fulfilling lives, and continuing to help others.
